Visualizing user activity in EMu

(explanation below the visualization)

Visualizing user activity in EMu

  • Data show edits made by different users to China Hall multimedia records in the Field Museum's EMu database. Users are shown as large red circles. Blue lines attach users to any records (small blue dots) that they created or edited.
  • Description of the data: a list of users and created or edited records: {user name, irn of the record created/edited}
  • Treatment in Gephi: Nodes (user and records) and Edges (audit records of users creating/editing a record) were laid out using the ForceAtlas2 algorithm, where nodes "repulse" from each other and edges "attract" each other.
  • The software used for this visualization is Gephi, and the browser-based version is made with SigmaJs and courtesy of clementlevallois.net
